“Collectables”
(Non-Philatelic Items)
Ü Coins; the following seven lots
each consists of a folder of plastic coin pages. These are
part of
a wide-ranging world
collection, the strength being in the depth of coverage of coin-
issuing
countries, some of which are seldom seen. While the large majority of
coins are
modern
(c.1960s to date), there are earlier issues here and there, and there
are
scarcer items
scattered
throughout. Condition is generally fine, much as would be expected, but
some
coins
have been polished. Coins have been held in place by being surrounded
by little
staples,
but we have not seen any damage caused by this.
128 China; interesting collection with a quantity of
earlier
coins all identified (from one single
coin from 1st century AD, through to 19th
century, with a number
from 10th-18th centuries),
mixed others inc. four
silver (dollar size), and little modern. (c.230) þ .. £200.

132 India; nice collection with only the smaller part
being
straightforward India; most is Indian
States (which are mainly
identified by State) as far back as two from Central India dated
340 AD. Seldom seen in such
a range. Includes a few Portuguese India. (c.365) þ £200.
133 Spain; good range with a number of 19th
century, some earlier
(earliest being a square
silver 12th century Moorish coin),
several silver included, through to modern. (c.160) þ
£100.
134 United Kingdom; useful collection of “silver” going back as
far as
one Charles II shilling
(worn), seven other pre-QV,
then mixed denominations and qualities, right through to
decimal issues. (c.430) þ
..

0845 0500 886 Use
this number to make bids or to check on
prices after the auction – or any time you want to speak to us – from
anywhere
in the UK for the cost of a local rate phone call.
€uro Currency; We are happy to accept
Euro cash payments in our shop. We display our rate beside the counter.
We
normally allow the market rate rounded down to the next whole penny.
For
example, at the time of writing, the market rate is 0.8729, so we are
allowing
87p per Euro (which is probably better than your bank will give you).
You can
also pay for auction lots in Euro banknotes (postal customers please
confirm
before sending). We also accept payments in our shop in Euros, and we
buy the
old “legacy” currencies, as well as other coins and notes.
Most
auctions include a few lots which, due to their large size or weight
compared
to value, will not be taken to the auction venue. They must therefore
be viewed
at our shop during the previous week, and successful purchasers will be
responsible for their collection from us. The symbol for these is “ Ä”, and very generally speaking,
there's a cut-off
point of about £2 or £3 estimate per kilo weight.
If you attend the auction and buy any of these lots, you can either
call at the
shop during normal opening hours, or it is sometimes possible to
arrange to
pick up after the auction has finished (though please first speak to
Mr. Murray
to arrange this).
NORMAL BIDDING
STEPS
We
list here our normal bid steps for your information. This may be of
help to bidders
who are unable to
attend the sale, as any written bids received which do not fit our
normal
pattern would usually be taken
down to the next normal step. (We keep to these increments as much as
possible,
but do sometimes
change if circumstances make it desirable.)
Up to £20, bids are in £1 steps.
From £20 to £30, bids are in £2 steps.
>From £30 to £50, bids are in £2 or £3 steps
(i.e. £30, £32, £35, £38, £40, £42,
£45, £48, £50).
>From £50 to £100 in £5 steps.
From £100 to £200,
bids are in £10 steps.
>From £200 to £300, bids are in £20 steps.
>From £300 to £500, bids are in £20 or £30,
and
above this in 5% to 10% steps.

list of abbreviations and symbols
used is from time to time included in the auction catalogue. We suggest

you keep a copy for future reference.

given after
posting, we will charge 1.9% extra
(Visa/MasterCard) or 18p (Maestro
and Delta), plus cost of posting receipt slip.
