Our "Stamps and Collectables" Auction on 29 September will include an important section of Banknotes. By far the largest part of this will be notes issued by the Scottish banks, but there will be smaller sections also of notes from the rest of the U.K., and of other countries.

Bank of Scotland; £20 note dated 1 May 1995 with a paper fold error at the lower left corner - area of sheet margin attached to note, and the vertical serial number is missing the last two digits. VF. (SC147a) Estimate £50.
NORTH OF SCOTLAND BANK LIMITED; £20 note dated 1 March 1934, EF. (SC716, cat.£450. for VF, therefore possibly £650. ?) Estimate £200.
Royal Bank of Scotland; "Square" £1 note dated 10 March 1917, VF (generally a fine and clean attractive note, though with several folds). (SC801b, cat.£180. for F, £360. for EF, therefore possibly £270. ?) Estimate £100.
UNION BANK OF SCOTLAND LIMITED; £5 note dated 1 August 1914, VF+ (fine and fresh, no physical faults, clean, several folds and creases mainly vertical but none unsightly). (SC911, cat.£850. for VF. Estimate £240.
